At last. The deed has been done. Yesterday I took the plunge and booked quite a bit of leave. It took even less effort and organisation than I thought it would, but now I am left with that perennial problem of what to do with the free time. So far no trips have been booked or travel plans made, and at the moment, all I have on the itinerary is as follows:
1) Pay a visit to the legendry shop/deli Scandinavian Kitchen, which is some where near Oxford Circus tube. I have been meaning to do this for some time but have never got around to it.
2) Go to the Wimpy – I just realised that it has been over two years since I last sampled the delights of the mighty Wimpy Half Pounder with cheese! This is a sad state of affairs indeed. The nearest sites to me are Morden and Teddington. At the moment Teddington looks to be the venue of choice.
3) By some new trainers – the ones I use for squash are on the way out. I know a good shop in Teddington though so this could be usefully combined with 2).
4) Arrange a trip to Copenhagen – this is one of the places on my ‘must see’ destinations to visit.
As you can see from the above, the list is not extensive. Items 1-3 should not really be difficult to get into motion, as all are local and involve minimal planning. Item 4 could be a bit trickier, as I will be trying to book a break within the peak holiday season. If all goes wrong, I might end up using my leave here in SW London, in that hallowed land of New Malden. Whilst this sleepy satellite town undoubtedly has its attractions (if anyone can think of one please let me know!), it is not a prospect I particularly relish.

Destination X?
Needless to say though I will keep you posted – even if it is just a case of ‘Viva New Malden’. Watch this e-space!
