One thing I have always liked about the olympics is that the people who get there and win the medals really deserve it. With sports such as football (soccer) and Formulae One car racing the relationship between the effort made competing and the money/fame earned is not always so clear cut. I agree with you about the Olympic Games drawing attention to sports that you may never heard of before. I think you are not alone in being inspired by the actions of the Olympic Atheletes. Badminton is a fun game to try competively, and well worth giving a go. The dream of winning in squash is certainly a driver for me to keep playing it... Hi Leafless. It's true that some sports aren't as exciting to watch, but at least we are being exposed to something we don't see everyday. I would not have realized the existence of competitive archery if not for the Olympics. And you know what, I'm thinking about taking part in the world of competitive badminton. I might win a medal or two. One can dream, right? Actually, watching the competitions (for me) is the best part.
